Historical Background:
At the onset of WWII, the British Army, like other Allied forces, was unprepared for modern mechanized warfare. Poor military development policies and governmental reluctance to acknowledge the threat of war left the British Expeditionary Force in a position similar to that of World War I. Despite new tank models, their infantry divisions faced significant challenges.
